Porcelain Paving

Porcelain Paving

At M&M Paving, we offer luxurious porcelain paving to homes across Stoke-on-Trent. This is an incredibly exclusive service that we are proud to provide to our clients.

Porcelain paving is a stunning addition to any contemporary and traditional property, offering a sleek, durable appeal to the outside. This is a customisable solution as we offer several shades and work closely with our clients to create something truly unique for their needs.

Consistently accurate sizes allow porcelain paving to be laid with thin joints that create that desirable modern appearance to your garden. The intentionally varied finishes, combined with subtle colour and surface variations, further enhance its individuality.

Smoother-surfaced matching versions allow you to use this paving indoors meaning you can create a harmonious flow from internal rooms such as the conservatory or kitchen to your outdoor patio.

If you are interested in renovating your home’s exterior and are looking for something different, then porcelain paving is a great solution. It is a timeless addition to any kind of property and will withstand the elements for many years to come.

How is Porcelain Paving formed?

Porcelain paving is formed by baking a mixture of clay, sand and other minerals in a high-temperature kiln, which produces an incredibly durable and non-porous material.

As it doesn’t absorb water, porcelain paving requires very little maintenance. There’s no need to apply a sealant as it’s already stain and mildew resistant.

That means that fungus can’t take hold and liquids such as oils and chemicals cannot penetrate the surface, so can simply be wiped away.

As an extremely dense material, porcelain paving is extraordinarily hard-wearing. It is also scratch resistant, making it perfect for high footfall paths and for pairing with garden tables and chairs to shape stunning outdoor spaces.

Benefits of Porcelain Paving

  • Porcelain paving is slip-resistant and non-porous, making it extremely low maintenance and ideal for any outdoor space.
  • It is incredibly durable, able to withstand extreme temperatures and weather conditions without losing its vibrancy or structure.
  • Porcelain paving can be easily integrated into any existing patio design, allowing a seamless transition from one material to another – this gives an element of continuity to your outdoor space and also ensures that the ridging between each tile remains as minimal as possible for easy cleaning purposes.

Laying Porcelain Slabs

First, we use a self-levelling compound over any uneven spots in the subfloor and allow this to dry completely. To make sure the tiles align correctly, we use a measuring tape throughout.

We then spread a layer of thinset mortar onto the surface using either a flat trowel.

Next, we place each slab into the mortar and use spacers in between them so that they are evenly spaced apart. Once all of the slabs have been laid, we let them set and cure completely before continuing on.

Once they have cured, we use a grout of the same colour as the slabs to fill any cracks and give the floor a finished look. Finally, we seal the porcelain tiles with a penetrating stone sealer to ensure their durability for years to come.
