Block Paving Driveways

Block Paving Driveways

In Stoke-on-Trent, block paving is becoming an increasingly popular option for driveways, paths and patios. These paving blocks are available in various designs and colours, allowing for a range of style options.

You can use standard paving blocks, circular sections, and decorative kerb stones to achieve various block paving effects.

With so many options available, you can easily design your new driveway or patio to complement the current style of your house or garden area.

Why Choose Block Paving Driveways?

A block paving driveway is a stylish and modern way to upgrade the exterior of your property. It requires minimal maintenance and provides an attractive, easy-to-clean surface that can last for many years with the right care.

Block paving driveways are also highly durable and can stand up to heavy use such as vehicular traffic without showing signs of wear or damage.

Additionally, block pavers offer excellent value for money. Block paving driveways are a more affordable option than traditional asphalt or concrete driveways, as they usually require less material and labour compared to these other types of surfaces.

Furthermore, they come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours so you can choose one that best suits any style of property and budget.

Benefits of Block Paving Driveways

At M&M Driveways, we provide block paving driveways to a range of homes and properties across the region.

Over the years, block paving has continued to be a popular choice because it offers so many benefits, including:

  • Durability – Block paving driveways are incredibly durable and can withstand heavy vehicle traffic, so they’re ideal for homes with multiple vehicles or those that receive regular visits from delivery drivers.
  • Low Maintenance – With block paving driveways, you don’t need to worry about ongoing maintenance such as weeding or re-sealing like you would with other types of driveways.
  • Variety – A block paving driveway can be customised to fit the look and feel of any property, from modern sleek designs to curved pathways for a more traditional aesthetic. With so many colours and patterns to choose from, you are sure to find the perfect fit for your home.
  • Drainage – Block paving driveways have excellent drainage capabilities due to their grid-like structure, meaning that water won’t pool on the surface and can quickly flow away into the ground. This helps prevent flooding in low-lying areas and makes it easier to keep your driveway looking clean.

Block Paving Driveway Installation Process

First, we prepare the area of installation. This involves marking out the boundaries and levelling off the ground to create a firm and even surface. We will remove any obstructions or existing structures as necessary.

The sand layer is then added, compacted with a vibrating plate compactor, and screeded off for further levelling purposes.

The block paving is laid in a stretcher bond pattern – this means that each row’s blocks are offset from those above and below it in order to ensure that no two rows are ever directly connected to one another.

Once all of the blocks have been laid, we check over the area to ensure that all of the blocks have been set securely.

We then fill the joints with kiln-dried sand, which is swept in and compacted down firmly. Edging kerbs can then be installed along the edge of the drive to finish off the look and create a neat boundary.
